Week of Feb 20-24 LL #28

Pre-Algebra:
This week I did Chapter 8 lessons. There was also a competition where you submit a video, telling them how much you love Mr. D. Math. There was pretty good prizes- $100 Amazon gift cards and more! Winners are announced on the coming Tuesday. I hope I win! It was really fun and I love making videos ;) I included some of my siblings in the video, so hopefully it is unique enough to win.

Creative Writing:
This week it snowed so much that my class was cancelled. :( I have been starting Creative Writing stories on my own (separate from class) that I'm working on. There's one about a tiger that attacks a girl on a hike, and one where a girl went missing for 2 weeks, and then was dropped off at a hospital with a broken ankle and concussion. She was in a coma for nearly 2 more weeks, and then wakes up with no memory of anything that happened while she was gone.

They're pretty fun! I can't wait to write them! ;)

Social Studies:
This week I read three chapters of Story of the World. I don't have the activity book, so I can't do  my activities. :(

Tech (Exploring Technology):
This week I completed my Orientation for Minecraft. I don't know why I have to do this at the beginning of every semester, but Mom said I had to do it, so I did. It walks you through stuff about the server, and then you make a house.

Week of Feb 13-17 LL #27

Pre-Algebra:
This week I started Chapter 8 of Mr. D. Math!!! Also, every month Mr. D. Math has a math contest. If you win, you get a $5 Amazon gift card. For the month of February, they are having one contest for each week. I have won twice! I have $10 somewhere... :)

Creative Writing:
This week we read over "Ode to Broken Things" and "Ode to Artichokes", both by a man named Neftali Ricardo Reyes Basoalto, who changed his name to Pablo Neruda. They are really great poems, and probably my favorite poems ever! We talked about odes and then wrote our own as practice. Then, we talked about the family songs we've started working on, and the teacher said we could do them as odes if we want. I was originally going to do that, but I decided not to.

My song topic was "Home is where the water is purified", since it was cool and unlike the other students. It may make me seem entitled, but it was all I could think of.

Ode to Home:

I need to know my water
Like I need air to breathe
Fluoride and chemicals
Pharmaceuticals and other crap
Not for me, please

Tap water is a stranger to me
I always bring a bottle from home
Water from the Berkey purifier
I thirst if I forget

The green pitcher you have
I drank from once
It was cool temperature
But bad taste

I need my water
Like I need air to breathe
I don't want to leave home
Without my special water

I'll work more on it next week. 🥤

Social Studies:
This week I started Book III. Book II is still lost, unfortunately. I read two chapters and worked on my State Capitals workbook.

Tech (Exploring Technology):
This week I registered for my new Minecraft class. I was going to do a course about history again, but I decided to do a Psychology course. It starts next week. I can't wait!

Elective (Writing for Publication):
My class was on Valentine's Day this week! We exchanged Valentines and played some fun Valentine's Day games. My favorite one was where we write a sentence, pass it to another person, and they write a sentence. They then fold down the paper, covering the first sentence, and pass it. The next person writes a sentence and folds down the paper, covering the second sentence. They pass it again, and so on. It was hilarious! The teacher said we should do them Valentine's Day themed... and I seriously twisted it.

The story I started was the best, I think. It started out "The love story starts with a green vacuum." It was passed around, and when it came back to me, I didn't know it was my story. I wrote "The guy behind her said, 'That's because I love you.'" When the story was finished and read aloud, I realized that the guy I created was talking to a vacuum. Oops... It was hilarious!!! I hope I can play that game again soon... ( ͡~ ͜Ê– ͡°)

Week of Feb 6-10 LL #26

Pre-Algebra:
This week I did my last two lessons of Chapter 7, and I completed my Chapter 7 test. Chapter 7 was pretty easy and fun, and I can't wait for Chapter 8! Making progress!

Creative Writing:
This week we filled out another worksheet about our family song. We talked about the mood and POV of the song.

Social Studies:
This week I finished Volume I of Story of the World!!! I misplaced Volume II, and searching all week did nothing, so I started reading through the summaries of Volume II activity book to catch up. I should start Volume III next week- hopefully I don't memorize the history in the wrong order by reading the books in the wrong order. Oh well.

Tech (Exploring Technology):
This week was my last Minecraft activity for my Maps and the World class! I learned about time zones. My Minecraft activity was to build a clock showing the time here, the time in London England, and the time in a place of my choosing. So, three clocks.

Week of Jan 30- Feb 3 LL #25

This week we also went on a Davinci field trip to the Clark Planetarium! Read about it here.

Pre-Algebra:
This week I started Chapter 7 for Mr. D. Math! I learned about graphing algebra equations on a number line. You solve the equations, find X, and then graph it. It uses the inequality signs <, >, ≤, and .

Creative Writing:
This week we each filled out a worksheet about our family. We will work on writing a song about our family later. We talked about different topics and how the right music and title set the mood for the song.

Social Studies:
This week I learned about barbarians. Attila the Hun, a strong and powerful leader, led the Huns to attack Rome. The emperor arranged for his sister Honoria to marry a weak, ugly man, and threatened to throw her in jail if she refused. Honoria sent a letter to Attila and told him that if he rescued her, she would marry him. Attila sent a message to the emperor and told him he was engaged to Honoria and he wanted half of the empire as a wedding present. Attila came to claim the treasures, and the emperor eventually paid him to leave. He also promised to send money to Attila each year, if only he would leave his empire alone.

Attila agreed and left, planning to come back and claim his wife. But before he could return, he suddenly died. The cause of death? A nosebleed.

End of story. After I got over my frustration, I did a cool flashcard game to help me memorize all of the United States.

Clark Planetarium - Davinci Field Trip!!!

This week we went to the Clark Planetarium!! We went with our grandma and had so much fun!!!!! We looked at most of the things there and then watched a 3D movie. There was a mix up with wristbands and it was a little complicated to get into the movie, but it worked out and we all had a great time.

It's The End... It's Over. 2022-2023 Goodbye!

Pre-Algebra: This week I completed my Final Mr. D. Math lesson and my Semester II test!! I completed a survey and gave them some feedback. I...
