I (Kaylee) did CTC lessons on Division By A Decimal and Division and Multiplication with decimals and whole numbers. I (Landen) practiced Multiplication on Imagine Math Facts. I took a test there to move on to the next place, and I only need to learn 3 more multiplication facts to pass! Then I'll learn more facts. I (Emberly) did my Princess Addition Workbook with my mommy.
Language Arts:
I (Kaylee) played a Language Arts game with Landen and Mom called Spit It Out! It's a game where you answer the questions WRONG. You have to think of the right answer, and then say something that is not that answer to answer the question correctly. It's basically re-wiring your brain! Also, you roll the dice, and they tell you when to answer questions right. You have to remember which ones you need to answer right, which ones you need to answer wrong, and figure out the answer to the questions all at once! It was hard but so much fun! I (Landen) did TTRS and played Spit It Out! with Kaylee and Mom. I (Emberly) read several princess stories to my mommy.
Science:
Spa Chemistry (Kaylee):
This week it was Mother's Day, so I made a pink, rose-scented soap with rose petals and a purple, lavender-scented soap with lavender buds. I also crocheted a pink bag, filled it with rose petals, and sewed it closed, and a purple bag, filled it with lavender buds, and sewed it closed. I would've made some bath bombs that are- you guessed it- pink, rose scented, and with rose petals, and purple, lavender scented, and with lavender buds, but we ran out of citric acid.
Elementary Science (Landen):
I watched a video about the science of bubbles. I learned that there are different kinds of bubbles- water bubbles and soap bubbles. I also learned that there is both water and air in both kinds of bubbles. Also, water bubbles are formed underwater. I didn't finish the video, though, so I shall finish it next week.
Technology:
Digital Photography (Kaylee):
I watched a CreativeLive video called Food Styling Q&A. In it, the teacher answered several questions about food photography. One question was, "Are you more of a chef or a photographer when taking photos of food? And do you spend more time on plating the food or shooting?" He answered, "It varies. Sometimes, I get asked to shoot pictures of a restaurant's food, and I don't get to choose how to plate. Other times, shooting is easy, but plating is messy and gross and hard."
Digital Art (Landen):
This week I remixed a project and made a code to change the background. Press 1 for white, 2 for black, 3 for red, and 4 for blue. You can find my project here. I did not make the spiral code, just the backdrop code.
Elective:
Culinary Arts (Kaylee):
This week I made some Mexican Sopapillas!
First I made the dough, then I shaped it into squares, fried them, and coated them in cinnamon sugar. They were yummy!
P.E. (Landen):
This week I did an online Minecraft exercise. I had to dodge creepers, duck under fireballs shot by ghasts, grab diamonds, and jump over lava. At the end of each level, I could craft some diamond armor from the diamonds I collected. There were four levels: 1, crafting boots. 2, crafting leggings and a chest plate. 3, crafting a helmet, and 4, defeating the Ender Dragon in battle. It was so much fun!
Arts and Crafts (Emberly):
This week I used dinosaur stickers and oil pastels to make a pretty picture!
Just so you know, I have been reading each blog post for the past month+. I am going to do so much better about responding each week. I have no good excuse, so please forgive me. I am looking forward to seeing you guys really, really soon! It's been way too long since we've seen you guys.
