This week we did more CTC. We also have some more assessments coming up. When we do them, they will test us to see how much we have learned and what else we need to learn.
Emberly also used her frog-shaped scale. She weighed the frogs using the numbered weights.
She loves balancing them!
Language Arts
This week we started another book- Front Desk. It is about a Chinese girl who moved to America. Her parents work at a hotel, and while they clean, she works at the front desk.
Science
Spa Chemistry (Kaylee):
This week I made some bath bombs. I colored them pink and put rose petals and rose essential oil in them.
A couple of them were still a little too wet, but luckily they didn't crumble. I should still be able to use them in a bath instead of turning them into bath salts like last time. The heart-shaped one and two of the smaller ones turned out really well!
Elementary Science (Landen):
This week I got out another of my Science kits- a make-your-own volcano set!
When it hardened, I scraped off some of the lines from the mold with a popsicle stick.
Technology
Digital Photography (Kaylee):
This week I got bored of my usual Creative Live class, so to change it up I started another class- food photography! I learned about what you want to do when you take a photo of food. You want to make the people who see your photo feel something. You want to make them hungry. The teacher showed some pictures of his work. I went into the video calm and peaceful. I left it virtually starving. Luckily, dinner was right after I finished the video! I will be able to use my skills when I take pictures of my culinary arts class.
Digital Art (Landen):
This week I looked at one of Kaylee's projects. For my lesson, she told me about it and then challenged me to make my own like it. So I started a project. I will be talking about it more next week. You can find Kaylee's project here.
Elective
Culinary Arts (Kaylee):
I made chocolate French crepes with a marshmallow cream filling for our book club party. You can check out the rest of our party here.
It was delicious!
P.E. (Landen):
Because of the warmer weather we were able to go for a nice long walk around our neighborhood and play in our backyard! It was nice to be outside in the sun.
Arts and Crafts (Emberly):
This week we got out the Kinetic sand and played. We each put a bag in a plastic tray and built shapes and designs. It was so much fun that we played for hours!
Kaylee and Landen also played once they finished their school. We made contests where you would create something and then judge which was the best creation. It was hard because the sand was very different than play dough! When you squeeze it, it clumps together. When you let go, it gradually falls apart!
