December Book Club Party- The Lion of Mars

This month we had another book club party! We read and finished The Lion of Mars. It was a really good book!

The Decorations:
We assembled different areas of our house into different rooms in the settlement. First, we put together Phineas's garden.

We arranged tablecloths to look like land and sea. Then we put fake plants and a blow-up Earth globe onto the table.

We made Commander Sai's workshop and laid out tools and, of course, duct tape!

We hung up red crepe paper to look like Mars.

Finally, we cut out little circles to look like stars and drew planets and rockets. We sprinkled them over the table like confetti!

The Food:
We had a supply feast just like they did in the book whenever they receive a shipment from Earth!

We had pizza like Chef Salty Bill would make after the ship arrived.

We also had macaroni and cheese.

We had lime Jello and raspberries, which was super yummy!

Emberly especially like it. She ate it before she tried anything else and then asked for more.

We also ate my (Kaylee) chocolate crepes like the people in the French settlement did.

The Activities:
We played a favorite game from the kids in the American settlement- 3 word story! We went around in a circle, each person continuing a story by saying 3 words. Somehow, "Once upon a time there was a princess, who" turned into "Darth Vader was mad and he was making Spaghetti and farting everywhere." It was really fun!

We also cracked glowsticks and played Tic-Tac-Toe.

The people in the American settlement had a rule- always carry glowsticks in your pocket. It came in handy when two of the kids were trapped in a train in a dark tunnel.
