Pre-Algebra:
This week I did some lessons on decimal and fraction conversions. I did pretty well. I also had a special session on Venn diagrams that was very fun. I knew how to do them mostly, so the lesson was very easy.
Creative Writing:
This week was the last class until January. We talked about body language in stories, did writing exercises on explaining emotions without saying "I feel disgusted" and other things like that. I wrote how it feels to me eating brussels sprouts. Maybe if I read that passage to mom, I wouldn't have to eat them. We also went over some revising rules and tips. Finally, we talked about how the word "said" disappears when we read it, and how great it is to use the word "said" instead of things like "inquired" "uttered" or "voiced". This is one of my favorite topics and I enjoyed the conversation a lot.
Social Studies:
I read two chapters in Story of the World. One of them was about a hundred-years-long war between the city of Carthage and the Romans. It was a very hard war to win. Both cities were strong defenders and quick learners. Eventually, the Romans invaded Carthage when the leaders were away and took over the unprepared city. The Carthage war leader drank poison when he heard the news that while he was away the Romans won.
A very nice, calm, happy story that fills you with love, right? 🙄
Tech (Exploring Technology):
This week I learned how to make an infinity scarf with a sewing machine. I also played minecraft.
Elective (Writing for Publication):
This week was the last class until January. We played some super fun writing exercises, including a Telestrations type game but just with words, and a revising game where we pass sentences around and do different things to them each round. It was very fun!
Howdy Kaylee!
ReplyDeleteIt's January 2023. Happy New Year!!
The end to the war between Romans and Catthage was sure dreary. Nothing happy, calm, nice, or loving about that! I enjoyenjoye
My fingers are too big...sent the above before I'd finished.😥 Anyway...
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your sarcasm about the end of the war. *Carthage
Brussel sprouts are not good tasting to my palate, however, grandpa likes them. Sorry you had to eat them.
We have a telestration game. It is fun to play. I'm glad you had fun with the two different games.
From your Mom's Facebook posts, it looks like you all had a great Christmas! I hope so! I wish we could have seen you and your family...we missed you very much! I love you!
Take care.

Grandma Susan
