This week I did Mr. D. Math and I learned a new way to do Multiplication. This way uses the distributive property. I also learned a new way to do Long Division, which makes the "long" part short!
Creative Writing:
This week I started my Creative Writing class! I met my teacher, Ms. Farb (she wasn't at back to school night). She is an awesome published author. We played games like Telestrations, Mad Libs, and a story game with cards that suggested a new character or scene in a collaborative story.
Social Studies:
This week I learned about Hieroglyphics and Cuneiforms. They are both old ways of writing. Some people used clay tablets to write. They could wipe off the engravings in wet clay, or bake it so it was hard and durable. Other people made early paper by mashing up reeds and leaving them to dry in the sun. I used clay and wrote my own Cuneiforms in it! Sadly, Shiloh started poking holes into it and mashed part of it into the table, so you can't really see the first symbol. Oh well.

I also learned about Egyptian pyramids and making a mummy. I made a pyramid out of pixel toys. I tried to make a sphinx but it was complicated and looked weird when made of tiny square blocks.
Tech (Exploring Technology):
This week we bought my curriculum for my Minecraft class. I'm so excited! I also finished my Scratch project. It is an intro for Kleos Academy!
Elective (Writing For Publication):
This week I started my Writing For Publication class! The first project we are making is a magazine. Guess what the topic is? About a place in ancient Egypt called Nubia (or Kush), which is nearby the place I'm learning about in Social Studies!

We looked at other magazines to see what makes them interesting, then we brainstormed what kinds of articles we wanted in our magazine.
