Where's My Shoes, Pasta History, and Clay Candies?

Math:
This week I (Kaylee) did CTC lessons on Addition With Same Denominators and Subtraction With Mixed Numerals. I (Landen) did CTC lessons on Division. I (Emberly) started CTCmath! I am learning addition and subtraction.

Language Arts:
This week we read more of our book, Show Me A Sign, and did our copywork.

Science:
Spa Chemistry (Kaylee):
This week I started revising my End Of Year Spa Chemistry Report. It's looking good! It's interesting to learn/review all of these things about bath bombs, candles, and soap!

Elementary Science (Landen):
I read a book about dinosaurs! I learned some really cool facts, such as that the Tyrannosaurus Rex was about 39 feet long and weighed about 7 tons! That's almost the equivalent of 6 average-height men standing on each other's heads (according to my calculations)!

I also learned that scientists have decided that dinosaurs with big eyes may have been active at night and during the day.

Technology:
Digital Photography (Kaylee):
This week I watched a Creative Live video that was actually really interesting! I learned some more stuff about camera gear, including cool light disks (to reflect light) and clamps to hold up the light disks. The teacher talked about picking the right camera, which I didn't need since I already have a camera, but also about some other things that I hope I can use someday. I'm really excited for next week, where he will do a full tutorial/demonstration on styling spaghetti and pudding (weird combination, I know)!

Digital Art (Landen):
This week I made an interactive background in Scratch! The instructions are in the description. I hope you like it, it took two weeks to make!

Elective:
Culinary Arts (Kaylee):
This week I took a break from making food and researched the history of my favorite food, pasta. I learned that pasta was first made as early as 3000 B.C. by the Chinese. Then, people brought the English practice to America. Thomas Jefferson brought the first ever macaroni and cheese machine to America in 1789. Finally, the first industrial pasta factory in America was built is Brooklyn in 1848, by a French man who actually spread his spaghetti strands on the roof to dry by the sun! Pasta production expanded in the 19th century and pasta makers popped up around the country. It was cool learning all of these things, and it got me wanting pasta!

P.E. (Landen):
This week we played with our neighbors, Olivia and Elise, in each other's backyards. We played Gaga Ball and a game where we hide each other's shoes, then climb on different things on the backyard, not touching the ground, trying to get our shoes back, without using our hands to get our shoes. It was fun!

Arts and Crafts (Emberly):
This week I used some clay I got from Easter and made some pretend candies!

It was so much fun!
