The Vanderbeekers (Again!), Peaches, and Some Art!

Math:
I (Kaylee) am still working on assessments. I did assessments about parts of a circle, area, and graphs. I (Emberly) did Mathseeds and learned about the numbers 16 and 17. I (Landen) am doing CTC lessons on Multiplication.

Language Arts:
I (Kaylee) am starting a new Brave Writer book, The Vanderbeekers book 2!!! It's called The Vanderbeekers and the Hidden Garden. Emberly and Landen are taking a break from Brave Writer and doing handwriting practice and spelling practice. I (Landen) am reading 20 minutes a day to mom and doing TTRS. I (Emberly) am reading a book to either mom or Kaylee every day!

Science:
Spa Chemistry (Kaylee):
This week I made a cool bath bomb!

First I made 5 different colors of bath bombs: red, yellow, pink, purple, and brown. I scented them like this: (red) grapefruit, (yellow) lemon, (pink) rose, (purple) lavender, and (brown) vanilla. I was originally going to make lots of really tiny bath bombs and put them all in a bath together to make some really colorful water, but my pink, purple, and yellow mixtures got too wet and collapsed, so I squished them all together and flattened it out into a plate-like shape. It will still make some colorful water, so it's fine by me (even though it broke in two pieces)!

Elementary Science (Landen):
This week, I did my Tiny Science! I did an experiment to see how much water weighs one gram. I took my balance scale, a cube that weighs one gram, a beaker, a graduated cylinder, and a pipette. I set up the balance scale and put water in the beaker. I put the cube on one side of the scale. Then I took the water from the beaker and put some of it on the other side of the scale, until it balanced. Finally, I took the water out of the scale and put it in the graduated cylinder to see how much water it was. It was 1mL.

Technology:
Digital Photography (Kaylee):
This week I finished my Creative Live video on propping. It was very interesting. I can't wait until the next video, Food Styling Props!

Digital Art (Landen):
I traced the Jurassic Park logo with my tracing pad and then colored it.

It was really fun!

Elective:
Culinary Arts (Kaylee):
This week I made some grilled peaches. Thing is, they weren't grilled. Instead, I used the air fryer!

First, I put the peaches on the tray. Then I air fried them at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes. After they were done, I coated them in brown sugar and butter and air fried them once more for another 5 minutes at the same temperature. Then we ate them. They were really good!!

P.E. (Landen):
I read about the history of golf. I learned that golf was banned in Scotland in 1457. In 1502, the ban was lifted with the signing of the Treaty of Glasgow. In 1682, the golf course at Leith, near Edinburg, was where the first international golf match was held.

Arts and Crafts (Emberly):
This week I used an art set I got for Christmas!

First, Kaylee drew a  picture (the one on the right). Then I redrew it in my own way with my art set (on the left).

It was so much fun!
