Pink Soap Surprise, Setting Up The Trampoline, And Clay Awesomeness!!

Math:
This week I (Kaylee) did more assessments. I'm getting tired of them- I've been doing them for sooo long!!! Luckily, I only have 2 more left, and then I'll be able to start on my lessons! I (Landen) did more multiplication lessons. I (Emberly) did Mathseeds.

Language Arts:
This week I (Kaylee) did more copywork. I (Landen) read a Lego Building book. I (Emberly) read a book I got for my birthday to mom and Kaylee! It was about princesses, called Belle's Story Collection!! I also did Reading Eggs. I finished all the lessons in my maps, which means I can move on to another part of Reading Eggs, called StoryLands! The Reading Eggs website says my reading age is 7 years!!

Science:
Spa Chemistry (Kaylee):
Since Emberly's birthday was this week, I made her some soap as a present!

I melted the soap, added pink dye, rose scent, and rose petals, then stirred it. I poured it into my rectangle mold and let it dry. Finally, I took it out of the mold and gave it to Emberly! Emberly loves it and can't wait for her next bath so she can use it!!!

Elementary Science (Landen):
I watched some videos on a science website and learned about soundwaves. A low-pitched sound is more flat on a screen, while a high-pitched sound has more "mountain" peaks.

Technology:
Digital Photography (Kaylee):
I finished my video on Prop Styling. It was very fun, and he talked a lot about choosing the right props and some stuff about using hands, steam, and condensation as props.

Digital Art (Landen):
I worked on a surprise project for Kaylee. But I was having trouble with it, and it wasn't working the way I wanted it to, so I had to spill the surprise to Kaylee. She knew somethings about how to make it work, so we collaborated and tried to make it together. It's not finished yet, but here is what we have so far!

Elective:
Culinary Arts (Kaylee):
This week I made some Ramen! I cut up some ham and defrosted some corn, and stirred it all into a bowl. It was very yummy! I didn't have time to do Radish this week, because we were preparing for Emberly's birthday on Saturday, so I had to go with something simple. But "simple" does NOT mean bad quality! It was very delicious!!

P.E. (Landen):
This week the weather was A M A Z I N G (most of the time), so we set up our trampoline! Then we played on it!!! It was so fun to FINALLY be able to jump on it after a long winter without it. Yay!!!!

Arts and Crafts (Emberly):
This week I used my EZ Craft Oven (that I got for my birthday)! It's a kid-safe oven that you can use to bake clay, Color and Shrink sets, Crystal Creations, and other crafts that require an oven! First, I used the included clay to make my craft. It's a blue and yellow medallion-thing with a red heart on it. Then, I put it in the oven, pressed the yellow "clay" button, and waited foreverrrrrr!!! (not literally- it took 20 minutes. Then it had to cool for 30!!!) for it to bake. Finally, I took it out and admired my creation. It was soooo fun!!

Kaylee and Landen did it too, with Kaylee's clay. Kaylee made a hamburger and some plates, cups, bowls, and a knife for my doll house, Landen made a pizza, and I made my medallion. It was soooo much fun!!! I hope I can do some more crafts with my oven soon!!!

  1. Happy Sunday!! It was a great conference weekend!
Have you said goodbye to doing assessments, Kaylee? If so, I bet you're glad to have finished them!
Emberly, It sounds like you had fun reading your book that you got for your birthday. From what I know, Emberly, I bet you are an excellent reader! Do You like to read?
Kaylee, the soap you made for Emberly looks really pretty. I love the different colors of pink. Did she get to use it yet?
YES for great weather and setting up your trampoline! Jump, jump, jump!!
Ramen is good...Grandpa really likes it. Are you sad to end lessons on prop styling? I bet that's been an interesting subject for your photography.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of the project you're working on, Landen.
That EZ craft oven looks so fun! I've heard of an EZ bake oven. I didn't know there was an EZ craft oven. Your crafts are very creative!
It was fun to see pics of Emberly's b-day celebration!

    1. Hi! Sorry I haven't been replying lately, I've been busy and forget all the time!!! I'm glad my assessments are over, the sooner I do my lessons, the sooner I can celebrate summer!! Because mom said if I don't do them, I'll have to do them over summer... :(
Emberly loves reading. She's sooo cute!
Emberly hasn't used her soap yet, but she's excited!
Prop styling was fun, and very interesting. However, now I get to learn more about different things!
EZ Craft Ovens are fun!! But we tried making shrinky dinks in them, and it DID NOT WORK. However, we tried them in our regular oven, and they were great! More on that in this week's blog.
It was a very fun week! Thanks for your comments, they're always fun to read, even if I forget :(
P.S. did you get my letter yet? I sent it over a month ago. It was sent back to me later, though, because it was SLIGHTLY too small (it was a homemade letter because I couldn't find regular letters). I put it in a standard one (mom showed me where they were) and resent it, but since you haven't written back, I don't know if you recieved it. Did it get stuck or something? Hmmm....
Bye! And thanks again for your lovely comments!
