We continued our lessons on CTC.
Language Arts
We played sight word BINGO this week. We also read Before the Ever After.
Science
Spa Chemistry (Kaylee):
I noticed some eczema on my fingers, so this week I made some whipped eczema cream.
When it was cool, I added Manuka Honey and drops of lavender and melaleuca essential oils. Finally, I whipped it with an electric mixer.
Elementary Science (Landen):
This week I did another tiny science experiment.
I used borax and food coloring to make slime- about 1/2 teaspoon of it!
Then I adjusted the portions of the ingredients and made it even bigger. It filled the test tube it was in and overflowed like blue lava.
Technology
Digital Photography (Kaylee):
This week I learned about how different lens speeds can affect the photos taken. I also learned about the subject zone. The subject zone is where the person or object is in the frame.
Digital Art (Landen):
I practiced drawing and using my pen on my digital art pad.
I drew a pirate ship and a bar graph. I graphed my favorite websites to be on, from my favorite to my least favorite. I graphed a truck game, a game website called Poki.com, a school website called Adventure Academy that I used to do, Microsoft Word, a coding website called Scratch that Kaylee loves, and CTC math.
Elective
Culinary Arts (Kaylee):
This week I opened up my Thrills and Chills Halloween Radish pack. I made some ghoul-ish goulash for dinner.
P.E. (Landen):
This week we played on our trampoline. We played Crack the Egg and did some flips. We also played a game I made up called Poison. In the game, someone tries to tag the other people on the trampoline, if you're tagged, you become infected and have to tag other people! Soon we will put away our tramp for winter. 😭
Arts and Crafts (Emberly):
This week I made pumpkins! My mom helped us by drawing pumpkin-like shapes for us to decorate. We used a guide that came with our pumpkin carving kit for ideas on face shapes.
I glued on googly eyes and drew faces onto my pumpkins. I cut out stems and leaves from brown and green paper and glued them on.
My brothers and sister made pumpkins too!

The audio messaging we have been doing is the best! I like to hear your voice. I am feeling better now from the covid booster.
ReplyDeleteDid the cream you made help get rid of the eczema?
I'm glad you're learning how to cook and bake. It is helpful for life to have those skills. I enjoy both. The last few things you've made makes me so hungry...they look and sound so delish!
Landen seems to enjoy the science and drawing activities. What does he like the best of those two? Poison sounds like a fun game for you all.
The pumpkin craft was fun to see the different and creative ways you three made them! I like the googly eyes!
I love all y'all!

Grandma Susan
